2021 Product year in review: Refreshed, streamlined, and integrated for hybrid work

The end of the year means another gift from the product team: an annual wrap-up. In 2021, we released some of our largest updates to date. From new integrations to a Home dashboard to a totally redesigned organization system and so much in between, the entire team has been hard at work supporting our customers navigate the world of hybrid work.

Let’s take a trip down memory lane.

In the first half of 2021, the team released our Microsoft Teams and refreshed Office 365 integrations. Customers who use Microsoft to power their work can incorporate Poll Everywhere into their ongoing conversations and slide decks.

Spring also brought some exciting releases to our Enterprise suite: reports, workflows, and trainings that made joining organization-wide accounts easier. Poll Everywhere admins can now see activity outside the centralized account with the Non-enterprise presenters report and accept pending requests to join their Enterprise organizations. In addition, our new Training center lets presenters and admins on Enterprise accounts learn everything from the basics to the latest releases. By inviting everyone to the same account and sharing educational courses, admins can foster even more collaboration and productivity in Poll Everywhere.

The largest release of the year came right down the middle of 2021, in June: our new organization system. With Folders and streamlined navigation, Poll Everywhere customers now have a new way to find their interactive content. Categorizing activities into meaningful folders saves time and allows presenters to share entire content structures with each other in one click.

It takes collaboration and complex workflows to host multiple hybrid presentations. Poll Everywhere makes it easy to work together as a team and focus on collecting live feedback. This significant change, which involved years of customer feedback and several iterations, was followed by a series of even more updates in the second half of the year.

September brought redesigned presentation controls to the lineup. The new bar at the bottom of the activity slide makes it easier to control what presenters display on their screens. Each activity type has its own unique views you can choose between, plus options to customize the visualization — all in one easy-to-find place.

With the fall semester around the corner, we also rolled out major updates to our Learning Management System (LMS) integrations and began fully supporting LTI Advantage. Educators on university-wide accounts can continue using Poll Everywhere with platforms like Canvas and Blackboard to incorporate engagement into their gradebooks — now with added functionality. For example, click one button to sync all class rosters, or choose to export participation credit as well as correctness scores.

Next, we added two new certifications to our security suite: ISO 27001 and ISO 27701. After a formal audit process, we’re proud to share these certifications in addition to our SOC 2 Type 2 report as another way to demonstrate our ongoing commitment to customer security at every level of the Poll Everywhere experience.

Our Halloween celebrations this year were enhanced with some incredible news: Poll Everywhere for Webex launched! This partnership, which you might have seen on the NASDAQ Tower in Times Square, brought hybrid work to the forefront once again. With the Poll Everywhere for Webex app, customers can connect directly within their Webex Meetings — no tab or context switching necessary. Poll Everywhere appears directly in the meeting window as soon as the host starts an interactive session and participants can make their contributions without any additional steps. Watch the overview video to see how it works.

Heading into the winter season, the releases didn’t stop there. After our Webex Embedded App launched, we introduced an entire new role to Enterprise Poll Everywhere accounts: Team Lead. These members of your Poll Everywhere organization can not only manage existing Teams they’re assigned to, but create new Teams from scratch. By handing off more responsibility, you can align everyone and focus on what matters — your engaging presentations.

To wrap an eventful year up, we released a brand new Home dashboard at the end of November and into December. This new default page shows your recent work at a glance as well as helpful resources to navigate your unique account. With a personalized selection of quick links and learning tools, you’ll get even more out of your Poll Everywhere account.

These are just a few of the major highlights from the past year. Our team has been dedicated to improving your Poll Everywhere experience every day and the effort definitely doesn’t go unnoticed.

We’re excited to have you along for the ride in 2022. Thanks for being a part of the Poll Everywhere community.
