You’ve taught from home for weeks now – you are a pro at sharing your screen, building PowerPoint slides, and hosting virtual office hours. You’ve read every list of “top tech tools for the virtual classroom”. You have all the resources you need to engage your students virtually. But how are you feeling? Rapidly adjusting to new teaching environments is difficult and you may be feeling overwhelmed. To help tackle burn out, we’ve collected a list of our favorite education podcasts with inspiring stories and insightful teaching tips to keep you motivated.
HMH Learning Moments Podcast
Houghton Mifflin Harcourt podcast Learning Moments is a great listen for K-12 educators. The podcast offers a range of individual stories, advice from experts, and exploration into new ideas for the education industry. We recommend listening to the February 11, 2020 episode with Julia Allan. Julia was a former hospitality industry worker who left her job to pursue teaching at her own Kindergarten school. If you’re feeling unmotivated, listen to why Julia chose to pivot to teaching to make an impact on her community.
Cult of Pedagogy
Cult of Pedagogy shared their best distance learning advice in their podcast episode titled Distance Learning: A Gently Curated Collection of Resources for Teachers. We highly recommend this episode because they break down both the emotional and logistical hardships of switching to online classes. They’ve gathered best practices from many teachers and troubleshoot any specific problems with distance learning.
